Face Swap helps you separate two choices that are easy to mix up: the source provides the scene and performance, while the target avatar provides the replacement face. Once that difference is clear, the video and image workflows are straightforward.
Before You Begin
- Use media you own or are authorised to edit, and get consent from anyone whose likeness is involved.
- Choose a source with one clear main subject. Avoid face coverings, heavy blur, and objects crossing the face.
- For the cleanest match, use a target avatar with a similar head angle and lighting direction.
- Check the live credit estimate in the product before every generation.
Open Face Swap and Add a Source Video
Open AI Tools, choose Face Swap, and stay on the Video tab. There are three ways to begin:
Hover over a sample to preview it, then open one to explore the workflow.
Add an MP4, MOV, or WebM from your device.
Reuse a compatible source you previously worked with.
Use a clip from 4 to 60 seconds, up to 200 MB, with dimensions from 300 to 6000 pixels per side.
Choose the Full Video or an Exact Range
For a source longer than 15 seconds, choose Full Video when the whole performance matters. Choose Trim when you only need one exact passage or want to test the result first.
When trimming, drag the left and right handles to set the range, preview it, and confirm. Prefer a continuous section where the face stays visible and the camera angle does not change abruptly.
Choose the Target Avatar
The source video remains responsible for the body, clothing, motion, background, camera movement, and original audio. The target avatar adds the new face.
Open Target Avatar. You can choose one of your avatars, upload a new target, or browse the public library. Pick one clearly visible face that differs from the source subject. Similar lighting and head angle usually create a more natural transition.
Generate and Review the Final Result
Confirm the source range and target avatar, then click Generate Video. When the task finishes, open it from Recent Tasks.
Play the full result and check whether the new face follows the expressions, lip movement, and head motion naturally. The finished video keeps the original source audio, so review the sound and performance together.
Swap a Face in a Photo
Switch to the Image tab and upload the source photo you want to keep. Supported source formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC. Then open Target Image and choose an avatar for the replacement face.
The source image keeps the composition, lighting, colours, and non-face details. Check the live image cost, click Generate, then download the result or go back to try a different pairing.
