Understand what may not map into JPEG
HEIF is a container family and HEIC is a common phone-photo extension. JPG represents a simpler still-image result with different capabilities.
Check how the photo is displayed
Phone files may rely on metadata for rotation, so portrait, landscape, and rotated fixtures must be tested.
Inspect metadata and auxiliary content
Do not claim preservation of GPS, depth, multiple images, alpha, or motion until each property is verified.
