Credits are VisionStory's usage currency: almost every generation — a talking video, an AI image, a voice preview, a Kling or Seedance clip — spends credits. This guide covers four things: how each feature spends credits, what a credit is actually worth in US dollars, what a finished video really costs, and how the different credit types in your account are used.

One rule to remember first: the exact credit cost is always shown on the generation screen before you submit. That on-screen estimate is the source of truth — it reflects your exact settings, duration, resolution, and any promotion currently running. The numbers below explain the model behind that estimate.

How each feature spends credits

Most VisionStory-native features are billed per 15-second block, rounded up — a 16-second video counts as 2 blocks. Each block costs a model rate plus any resolution and green-screen add-ons:

block cost = model rate + resolution add-on (+ green screen)
video total = blocks × block cost (blocks = duration ÷ 15s, rounded up)

External third-party models (Kling, Seedance, Wan) are billed differently — per second — and cost more.

Talking video (AI Avatar / Talking Photo)

All talking-video generation uses the V-Character model. Per 15-second block:

ComponentCost (per 15s block)
Model (V-Character)4 credits
Resolution 720p+0
Resolution 1080p+2
Resolution 2K+10
Green screen (transparent background)+1

So a 1-minute video (4 blocks) costs 16 credits at 720p, 24 at 1080p, or 56 at 2K. Creating an avatar from your photo is free — credits are only spent when you generate a video.

Other native features

  • AI image: billed per model and available on Pro or higher — 1 credit per image for Nano Banana, 2 for Nano Banana 2, and 3 for Nano Banana Pro.
  • Video enhance / upscale: only the resolution upgrade is charged, per 15s block — +2 to 1080p, +10 to 2K. Upscaling a 1-minute video costs 8 credits to 1080p or 40 to 2K.
  • Background removal: 1 credit per image cutout; 1 credit per 15s block for video green-screen removal.
  • Face swap (video): 5 credits per 15s block — a 1-minute swap is 20 credits.
  • Voice preview: the first 50,000 characters every 24 hours are free; beyond that, 1 credit per 500 characters (rounded up).
  • Voice cloning: free — limited only by the number of clones your plan allows.

External video models (billed per second)

These run on third-party providers, so they cost more than native features and are billed per second of output.

Model720p1080p4K
Kling 3.03 /s5 /s17 /s
Kling 3.0 Omni3 /s5 /s
Seedance 2.05 /s8 /s
Seedance 2.0 Fast3 /s
Seedance 2.0 Mini3 /s
Wan 2.73 /s6 /s

Kling adds +2 /s for native audio (Omni adds +1 /s more for a reference video). Examples: a 5-second Kling 3.0 clip at 1080p is 25 credits; a 5-second Wan 2.7 clip at 1080p is 30 credits; a 15-second Seedance 2.0 clip at 1080p is 120 credits.

Combined formats

Podcast, Presentation, Campaign, and Avatar Story all render native talking video under the hood, so they inherit the V-Character block rate above — each adds its own twist.

  • Podcast: talking-video rate per block; two-host (dual) shots render two avatars and count ×2. Cover and scene images cost 1 credit each.
  • Presentation (PPT video): one charge across the total narration length of all slides; the slides themselves are not charged.
  • Campaign (AI ads): billed per creative — each a fixed-1080p talking video — with a volume discount as you generate more in one batch.
  • Avatar Story (AI agent): only two things cost credits — storyboard images at 1 credit each and the final render at talking-video rates (dual shots ×2). Chatting and planning with the agent are free; a paid plan is required.

What a credit is worth in US dollars

Credits come bundled with your plan, so the real cost of a credit depends on two things: your plan tier and whether you pay monthly or annually. Higher tiers and annual billing both lower the price per credit. Here are the two extremes.

Plan and billingPriceCreditsApprox. per credit
Pro, billed monthly (most expensive)$9.99 / month120 / month~$0.083 (8.3¢)
Ultra, billed annually (cheapest)$999 / year23,040 / year~$0.043 (4.3¢)

In other words, a credit is worth roughly 4 to 8 US cents depending on your plan — and an Ultra annual credit is about 1.9× cheaper than a Pro monthly credit. To make it concrete, a 1-minute 720p talking video (16 credits) works out to about $1.33 on Pro monthly or $0.69 on Ultra annual.

These are standard list prices as of mid-2026 and exclude limited-time promotions. Your actual charge, current prices, and any active discount are always confirmed on the pricing page and the checkout screen.

What a 1-minute video actually costs

The question most people really have is simpler: what does a finished video cost? Here is a 1-minute clip at 720p, priced across VisionStory's own models and two popular alternatives. VisionStory figures use our lowest per-credit rate (Ultra, billed annually, about 4.3 cents per credit).

ToolTypeCost for 1 min at 720p
VisionStory V-CharacterTalking avatar (native)~$0.69 (16 credits)
HeyGenTalking avatar~$0.97
SynthesiaTalking avatar~$1.80
Kling 3.0 (in VisionStory)Cinematic AI video~$7.74 (180 credits)
Seedance 2.0 (in VisionStory)Cinematic AI video~$12.90 (300 credits)

For a talking-avatar video, VisionStory's native V-Character is by far the most affordable — well under HeyGen and Synthesia. Kling and Seedance are cinematic video generators (a different job than talking avatars), billed per second, so a full minute costs much more. Competitor figures are each platform's lowest published per-minute rate; your exact VisionStory cost always appears on the generation screen before you submit.

The three kinds of credits — and the order they are used

Your balance can hold three kinds of credits. They come from different places and follow different rules.

TypeWhere it comes fromExpiry
SubscriptionYour plan and its renewalsValid while subscribed; reclaimed if you cancel or the plan lapses
Bonus (free)Sign-up gift, daily activity, referrals, promotionsNever expires
PermanentCredit packs you buyNever expires

In the app, your sign-up gift and activity rewards are shown together as Bonus credits. Subscription credits accumulate while you are subscribed — they do not reset every month.

Which credits can pay for what

Most generation accepts any credit type, but two higher-cost features are restricted to paid credits:

  • Native avatars and talking videos, and images generated inside an agent conversation: any credit, including Bonus.
  • External video models (Kling, Seedance, Wan) and standalone image generation: Subscription or Permanent only — not Bonus.

External models and standalone images carry a real cost we pay to third-party providers, so they can only be paid with credits you actually bought.

The order credits are spent

For native generation, credits are spent Subscription → Permanent → Bonus. Subscription credits go first on purpose: they are reclaimed if your plan ends, so using them first means you get full value from what you already paid for, while your never-expiring Permanent and Bonus credits wait until last. For external models and standalone images, spending stops at Permanent — Bonus is never touched.

When you run low: usage-based billing

When every credit is used up, subscribers on Pro and higher can turn on pay-as-you-go and keep generating instead of being blocked. Overage meters only the usage beyond your included credits, at a fixed per-credit rate set by your plan, and is invoiced automatically (roughly every $5, and at each monthly cycle). A safety cap pauses generation if unbilled overage grows too large, so it can never run away. If you routinely overage, upgrading or buying a credit pack is cheaper.

Bottom line: native talking videos are the most credit-efficient way to create; higher tiers and annual billing make each credit cheaper; and whenever cost matters, the estimate on the generation screen is always the number to trust. Ready to pick a plan? Compare plans and credit allowances.

Frequently asked questions

  • External models like Kling and Seedance, and standalone image generation, can only use paid credits (Subscription or Permanent). Free Bonus credits do not apply to them because those features carry a real third-party cost. Bonus credits still work for VisionStory-native avatars and talking videos.
